The Current Reality is Broken 

The inspiration for Mutiny came from my firsthand experience with this challenge. At VMware, I worked closely with enterprise sales teams to build relationships with every enterprise customer—listening to earnings calls, combing through press releases, talking to sales about company priorities, and turning those insights into tailored decks, ROI calculators, and personalized landing pages. These efforts proved to accounts that VMware was invested in their success.

But when I went to Gusto to lead marketing, I realized we could not scale that model to any of our customers. I learned the hard truth: as a CMO, you can either have relationship-based selling for a handful of accounts—which works incredibly well, driving 10X higher conversion—or you can run a generic, scaled model for more reach. You can’t do both.

My Co-founder Nikhil puts it well: “Breaking into enterprise accounts takes countless hours of research—reading call transcripts, scanning SEC filings, piecing together priorities for each company. And most teams have thousands of accounts to go after, making it operationally impossible. So they resort to less effective, generic campaigns.” 

This is the fundamental dilemma facing marketers today: trading relationships for scale.

We built Mutiny to solve this problem. And today, we took the biggest step in Mutiny’s history in making this vision a reality for our customers.

LaunchDarkly—a global feature management platform working with enterprises like Hulu, GM, and IBM—faced an impossible challenge: generate 30 meetings with whale accounts in one quarter.
